St. Pedro Calungsod, 17th century Filipino martyr, is depicted wearing a traditional barong tagalog. His right hand holds a spear–the instrument of his martyrdom–while his left hand holds a copy of the catechism used by the Jesuit missionaries he assisted. The spear and halo are inspired by traditional Filipino designs.
3-inch, gilt wood frame included. Subtle leaf lines and a warm, gold finish compliment the gold undertones and delicacy of the painting.
